Description

The original “Julia Child of plant-based cooking” teams up with her daughter to offer a multigenerational celebration of the power of a plant-based lifestyle—with 125 recipes. The Esselstyn family is three generations plant-based strong. Encouraged to create recipes without dairy and meat when her husband’s research pointed to the impact of diet on reversing disease, Ann Esselstyn began feeding her family creative, plant-based meals more than thirty years ago. She and her daughter, Jane Esselstyn, are bolts of energy from the same strike of lightning and have become fierce, big-spirited advocates for a plant-based lifestyle, reaching hundreds of thousands of fans through their previous books and their popular YouTube channel. At eighty-six and fifty-six, respectively, Ann and Jane are pictures of ageless health and vibrancy and spend their days hiking, doing yoga, gardening, cooking, and spreading the message that diet is the key to living a happy, strong, and disease-free life. Be a Plant-Based Woman Warrior explains how women everywhere can pass on this important legacy in their own families through the generations, and illuminates how plants powerfully support a woman’s body and mind. This cookbook is a call to action and a message of hope for any and all to be Plant-Based Women Warriors filled with vitality and in control of their own health. Be a Plant-Based Woman Warrior includes more than 125 recipes made for women on the go, from Apple Flax Flapjacks and Black Ramen Bowls, to Portobello Sliders with Green Goddess Sauce, to Mint Chip Outta Sight Brownies. And it includes big-flavored dinners like Sweet Potato and Cashew Ricotta Lasagna and Plant-Based Pad Thai, sure to tempt even the most reluctant vegetable-focused eaters. Full of life, captivating energy, and delicious food, this cookbook brings readers to the Esselstyn family table, where plants and joy are at the center.

Just received my copy after pre-ordering. I have so looked forward to receiving this book.

I have been a fan of Jane and Ann’s youtube channel for years and have almost every single Esselstyn book there is. So when I found out this one was coming out, I knew I had to have it. Upon opening the cookbook, the first thing that drew me in is the vibrant photos throughout the book. They are absolutely stunning! The contents of the cookbook are detailed, thorough, and easy to read. It includes over a hundred whole food plant based recipes and a few informative chapters that are captivating and inspiring. This cookbook is the kind of cookbook you need to buy for every single family member you have and one to pass along to generations to come. It is absolutely stunning and one you definitely need to add to your cookbook collection. It is almost too beautiful to use… or maybe I need to purchase two – one to put on display and one to use in the kitchen! 🙂 Jane and Ann, well done!!!

Received both, digital and paperback copies today. I already tried the roasted cauliflower and broccoli bites and the three goddesses salad (except that I didn’t have blueberries), but used the strawberry balsamic dressing (so some berries ended up on the salad anyway!!). I’m making the hummus we love tomorrow and plan to do the grilled wrap. The book is full of pictures and ideas. Thank you, Ann and Jane for your commitment to healthy eating and health.

This book is everything you want: it’s bright and colorful, it’s deliciously inspiring, it’s filled with funny little anecdotes about Ann and Jane and their amazing family. I want to be Ann when I grow up-(who doesn’t?!) so I love that I can cook my way through this treasure – while dancing in my kitchen- and try to keep up with the amazing example Ann and Jane have set for all of us! This book is a gift to all women who want to defy the aging playbook and make our own rules! With plants!

  5. Huckabee Family

AtoZ thrilled! The cover and its lively colors, so many brilliant photos of the recipes and my favorite part, besides the recipes, is Chapter 3 – What’s In the kitchen, so you know what to stock the kitchen with, so you can prepare any meal from the book.

These are the breakfast Banana Muffins. I promise you they aren’t cardboard! Never mind this is an unabashed whole food plant based promotion (vegan if you want to know what WFPB is) but it is thorough, interesting testimonials and simple recipes. No complicated methods.

  7. Syndrella

Well, I’ve adopted these two women, as distant family… almost daily I watch and rewatch their YouTube channel… I’m in early 70s, grew up nearly vegetarian, then lost my way in my middle years, now returning to clean eating and radiant health… no going back! These recipes are so beautiful and completely appropriate for entertaining and celebrating, as well as any day of the week. I hope to be able to serve them to family who are not quite ‘convinced’ of new dietary ways. Much gratitude… please, never stop sharing!

I’m incredibly impressed with this book. I am an avid vegan cookbook collector (don’t judge me) so I have a lot to compare this to. And I’m so happy with this cookbook. I just received it and I made two recipes so far, and they have both been amazing. I can’t wait to dive into it more.
